I just got back from Zynga's holiday party in California. Had a blast with Helen and Co. but now its time to get back to work! I have a week's vacation from work, so I figure its just enough time to finish 1 character model.
Here's a WIP screenshot. Ive barely finished the hands and havent really started on the feet. I forgot how draining it is to model hands. I'm tempted to use some zsphere sculpting in zbrush, then just retopo-ing/exporting. This will be my first female 3D model. I'm excited! eeeep.

This is by far my favorite low poly model ive ever created! I spent about an hr sketching some dinosaur silhouettes, and then started modeling once i found one w/proportions i liked. After i finished modeling, i rigged this bugger and played with his head scale to make him look cuter. It's like DK mode in golden eye! nom nom nom. It took about a day and a half, while going back and forth between creating UI elements and modeling/texturing/rigging him.
I havent completed his texture yet, but I'm really excited to start animating him. He's going to be innocent, hyperactive, ferocious, and sad that he has such tiny tiny arms.
Week 2 and 3 of pose maniac. First one is 45 second sketches, and the second is 30 second sketches.
I've also started doing daily self portraits. I got the idea from one of my conceptart.org inspirations, Algenpfelger who had a daily self portrait thread. He started out as a decent artist, but is now crazy good. It's kinda narcissistic, but i figure its the best way to learn value/color from life... and all i have to do is look at a mirror. portraits took 45 mins to an hr. Most of my portraits will include my headphones. I <3 me some pandora. Also, i'll be sure not to make any more funny faces for portraits. My face was becoming sore from constantly making that 1 weird expression.
Here are some 30/45 second sketches from pose maniac. I do 1 row a night, so this is from the past 10 days. Im actually kinda ashamed of the first 7 rows. Theyre blocky and my line quality looks rather clumsy. Then somehow something must have clicked on day 8-10 b/c things are starting to not look like turds.
This is the first time ive logged my drawings, and im kinda diggin it. I cant wait to see how what i'll be able to produce 1 month from now.
I made a market cart! 1244 tris, 1024x1024 texture. I wanted it to have a gypsy/travelers feel, as well as a whimsicalness(possibly a made up word). To make the silhouette more unique, i decided to cut the cart in half and put in those accordian extension-connector thingies that you see on buses. I really liked the way it turned out, considering I just started modeling in Maya with no initial concept sketched out. It's kind of a bad habit im trying (but failing) to break.
I made a rocket. It reminds me of an ice cream smoothie.
Heres a gnomish waterballoon shooter. Its in an idling state getting ready to pew peww. It reminds me of a hair dryer, bird-o, and ostrich. copyright Benxing Entertainment.
Death Mama.... doing a few different concepts for the serpent character im modeling. Not fully done, but i like where its headed. I started painting her thin and w/ a skeletal face, and thought itd be funny if a person w/ an emaciated face was fat. Then somehow she just ended up knocked up... my brain's weird.
lololols.. look what i found! Its the only thing i have left from my senior project since my computer crashed and i lost all my files. Its an old playblast of my fat zombie, Clarence. This was his vomit spray-attack animation. Since its an early playblast, he doesnt have the green particles spewing from his face.... shame. :(
Another file that will be missed: Jumper cryo chick. I really need to find some sort of online backup. She was modeled so that she'd animate well.
And my professor captured some sweet vid of the 2 senior projects I worked on.
Ugh, i keep forgetting to upload stuff here. I have a bunch of stuff, namely animations, to batch render and post. I'll try to post at least once a week from now on!
Im trying to concept a character to model. After ive slept on it, im thinking about going in a different direction. I do, however, like the fire afro and horns.
